About the MATES Scheme
The Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early Professionals Scheme (MATES) is a joint initiative by the Australian and Indian governments. According to reports, the two governments signed an agreement on May 23, 2023, called the Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement (MMPA). This agreement aims to promote legal and regulated migration between the two nations while addressing issues of illegal migration.
