Good Update! MATES Scheme 2024: Application Process, Benefits, and Eligibility

The Australian government has launched the MATES Scheme 2024 to provide work opportunities in Australia for university students and early-career Indian professionals. Under this scheme, eligible Indian professionals and university students will be offered employment opportunities in Australia for a period of two years. All Indian professionals under 30 years of age at the time of application and holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in specific fields are eligible to benefit from this scheme.

The Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early Professionals Scheme (MATES) is a joint initiative by the Australian and Indian governments. According to reports, the two governments signed an agreement on May 23, 2023, called the Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement (MMPA). This agreement aims to promote legal and regulated migration between the two nations while addressing issues of illegal migration.

Professionals interested in participating in this scheme can apply by filling out the application form available in December.

The primary aim of the MATES Scheme is to provide Indian professionals with opportunities to work and gain experience in Australia. Through this scheme, Indian professionals can learn about Australia’s work culture and showcase their skills.

Selected young professionals under this scheme will have the opportunity to work in Australia for up to two years.

• Must be 30 years old or younger at the time of application.
• Should not have participated in the MATES Scheme previously.
• Proficiency in English (minimum IELTS score of 6, with at least 5 in each module, or an equivalent test score).
• Graduation from a recognized educational institution within two years prior to application.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following fields:
  • Renewable Energy
  • Mining
  • Engineering
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Financial Technology (FinTech)
  • Agricultural Technology (AgriTech)

• Young Indian professionals can work in Australia for up to two years.

• Selected professionals can bring their spouse and children to Australia with them.
