The Government of India has launched the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) to provide financial assistance to various vulnerable groups affected by issues such as disability, old age, unemployment, illness, and more. NSAP comprises five components: Indira Gandhi Public Advanced Age Annuity Plan (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), and Annapurna Scheme. All selected beneficiaries under this scheme will receive financial assistance directly in their bank accounts.

The NSAP Scheme was initiated by the Government of India in 1995 to provide financial aid to economically disadvantaged households in India. Since its inception, this scheme has been supporting financially weaker households unable to afford basic necessities like food and healthcare. The NSAP Scheme is a national program, meaning all citizens living in India, whether in rural or urban areas, are eligible to benefit from it. Under this scheme, elderly citizens receive INR 500, widowed women receive INR 500, disabled persons receive INR 500, and the Annapurna Scheme provides food and basic necessities.

 The primary goal of the NSAP Scheme is to improve the lives of all economically vulnerable citizens in India. Through this scheme, the central government provides financial assistance and food support. According to the central government, 4.4 crore citizens have already registered under this scheme and are receiving financial aid.

• Under IGNDPS, women aged 40 and above receive INR 300 per month, and women aged 80 and above receive INR 500 per month.
• Under NFBS, eligible citizens receive a one-time financial aid of INR 20,000.

• Support for Economically Disadvantaged Citizens: The Government of India provides essential needs for financially weaker citizens.
• Financial Aid for Senior Citizens: Elderly citizens receive financial assistance of up to INR 500 to help them live comfortably.
• Food Provision: The Annapurna Scheme provides food to citizens who cannot afford it.
• Easy Application Process: The scheme offers a simple and user-friendly application process.
• Monthly Benefits: All selected citizens receive monthly financial assistance.

• The citizen must be a permanent resident of India.
• The citizen must be financially disadvantaged.
• The citizen should fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
• Selection of New Beneficiaries: New beneficiaries will be selected by the Gram Panchayat or Municipality.

1. First, visit the NSAP website: web.umang.gov.in.
2. Click on “Login/Register” on the homepage.
3. Enter your mobile number and MPIN to log in on the new page.
4. Search “NSAP” on the dashboard and click “Apply Now.”
5. Fill in the application form with personal information, bank account details, and Aadhaar card information.
6. Verify all details and click “Submit.”

1. Download the application form.
2. Print the form and complete all required details.
3. Submit the form to the relevant government official.
4. Once details are verified, citizens can be enrolled as beneficiaries of the NSAP Scheme.
