The Nagaland government has launched the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), a public health insurance initiative that provides cashless treatment for government employees, pensioners, and citizens who are not covered under the AB PM-JAY scheme. The CMHIS has been launched in alignment with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This scheme aims to reduce the financial burden of hospitalization, promote access to affordable and quality healthcare, and accelerate progress towards achieving the state’s health coverage goals.

On the event of the 78th Autonomy Day, the Central Clergyman of Nagaland, Mr. Neiphiu Rio, inaugurated the Chief Minister Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS) at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima. This scheme covers hospitalization expenses, surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and other medical costs incurred due to illness or injury. CMLIS provides financial protection against hospitalization and medical treatment costs to the citizens of Nagaland. The scheme is a significant step towards achieving the state’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals, which commits to ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages by 2030, providing equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare to the people of the state.

The objective of the scheme is to provide cashless treatment to government employees, pensioners, and citizens not covered under the AB PM-JAY scheme. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden of medical expenses, ensuring healthcare is available to all, especially those economically disadvantaged.

To benefit from this scheme, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• The candidate should be a occupant of Nagaland.
• For general category families, the age limit for eligibility will be between 18 and 50 years, as per PMJJBY guidelines.
• All government employees will be provided with life insurance coverage, and the age limit for them will be between 18 and 60 years.

Under this plan, the accompanying advantages will be given:

• The scheme offers cashless treatment for government employees, pensioners, and citizens not covered under AB PM-JAY.
• It covers hospitalization expenses, surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and other medical expenses.
• CMLIS provides financial protection against hospitalization and medical treatment costs for the citizens of Nagaland.
• The scheme will reduce the risk of poverty related to hospitalization costs, promote access to quality and affordable healthcare, and accelerate progress in the state’s healthcare coverage.

• The scheme was launched by the Chief Minister on 15th August 2024, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
• The last date for enlistment is fifteenth September 2024.

Applicants must provide the following documents to avail of the benefits:

• Aadhar card
• Nagaland domicile certificate
• Affidavit
• Self-certification
• Pensioner ID or Employee ID
• PAN card
• Bank passbook
• Mobile number
• Insurance coverage details

• CMHIS (EP): Health insurance coverage for regular government employees, pensioners receiving medical allowance, and their families, with a coverage of Rs 20 lakhs per year per family.
• CMHIS (GEN): Health insurance coverage for contractual and ad-hoc employees, non-dependent family members of CMHIS (EP), employees without PIMS numbers, journalists, and any family not covered under CMHIS (EP) or AB PM-JAY, with a coverage of Rs 5 lakhs per year per family.

• For Employees and Pensioners:
  • Visit the CMLIS Nagaland portal at cmlis.nagaland.gov.in.
  • Click on “Register | Sign in” on the landing page.
  • In the event that you have a CMHIS card, select the “CMHIS Card ID” choice.
  • Enter the card ID and click on the “Check PMJAY ID” button for eligibility verification. Note: The last date for verification is 5th September 2024.
• For Non-Covered Families:
  • Rural residents can register through the Nagaland Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM).
  • Urban residents can register through the offices of DC/ADC/SDO/EAC. Note: The last date for registration is 15th September 2024.
